Job Summary:

The Credentialing Assistant is responsible for credentialing and re-credentialing independent licensed clinicians and other certified or licensed staff, and related activities to being appointed to work as well as credentialing for health plans and other organizations that provide reimbursement for services.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete credentialing and re-credentialing processes for clinicians to ensure verification of qualifications to provide services to patients. Credentialing process includes but is not limited to the following:
  • Requesting and processing hospital privileges as directed.
  • Completing primary source verification ex: license, board certification.
  • Obtaining peer references and verifying past employment.
  • Querying the AMA database during initial credentialing and thereafter as deemed needed during re-credentialing.
  • Querying the NPDB upon initial credentialing and during re-credentialing.
  • Verify license and education of other healthcare workers.
  • Send notices and follows up on renewal of licenses, DEA, life-saving, board certifications
  • Emails a monthly excel reports to supervisors and interoffice mails reminders and follow-up of annual communicable disease, and other expirations to ensure renewal prior to expiration date.
  • Assists health center managers in maintaining clinician licensure health center binder by providing current copies of licenses or certificates,
  • Update credentialing-related information in ADP
  • Organize and maintain files/systems/documentation for clinician and non-clinician credentialing and continuing medical education.
  • Coordinate Credentialing Committee meetings, including meeting notices or reminders, preparing agenda and taking minutes; following-up on questions or open issues,
  • Complete required applications, attestations, and agreements, required for reimbursement for services.
  • Process CME reimbursement and CME time off requests.
  • Credentialing for insurance and other plans for reimbursement

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Basic computer proficiency with web based applications and the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field.
  • Credentialing experience or experience deemed equivalent preferred.
