Description:

A large publicly traded company and one of San Diego’s premier employers is looking to hire a Billing Analyst to work with a portfolio of customer billing accounts to provide analysis on exceptions and other complex irregularities.

  • Ensure timely and accurate customer billing
  • Position reviews, analyzes and ensures the integrity of interval energy consumption data
  • Perform analysis on complex billing exceptions for Net Energy Metering and Interval Data customers
  • Handle escalated billing scenarios that require extensive analysis and coordination with other departments throughout the company
  • Include associates in process to help them understand how to resolve similar issues
  • Is able to work register read bill exceptions and acts as a Billing Subject Matter Expert
  • Perform complex analysis in support of bill corrections regarding issues such as rate applicability, metering, and billing changes
  • Investigate, correct, and resolve billing discrepancies for Interval Data and Net Energy Metering (NEM) customers
  • Analyze accounts to ensure that billing components are accurate and in compliance with CPUC rules
  • Lead rebill projects as assigned by Supervisor
  • Communicate with internal and external customers regarding billing complaints, service changes and meter investigations, high use, and other customer billing inquiries
  • Assist other billing employees resolving complex billing situations
  • Act as point of contact for Billing and is able to explain complex billing scenarios in terms the customer can understand
  • Respond to internal inquiries and work with key departments to seek resolution for account specific activities; Departments include the Customer Contact Center, Commercial and Industrial Services, and Smart Meter Data Operations
  • External communications may include Energy Service Providers, Property Management Companies and Landlords, as well as residential and commercial customers
  • Monitor reports and perform ongoing account maintenance
  • Review account records to identify, investigate, and resolve issues
  • Works with other departments to resolve issues related to the billing of participating customer accounts
  • Keep lead/supervisory personnel informed of problems and issues in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Good time management skills, attention to detail and a customer first focus
  • Perform a variety of duties related to the billing and maintenance of customer accounts

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in Billing Operations or relevant work experience
  • Candidate must have working knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations and related billing policies and procedures
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of increasingly responsible experience in Billing Operations or relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of business practices, accounting techniques and computer systems normally acquired through college level courses
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field
  • Experience in negotiations and conflict resolution
