Job Title:
Business Systems Analyst

A large publicly traded company and on of San Diego’s premier employers is looking to hire a Business Systems Analyst to be responsible for the management, development, maintenance, and enhancement of Fleet management information systems and its interfaces with other systems, providing specialized technical and Fleet business knowledge. 


Business Systems Analyst

The BSA provides technical direction and support for systems development, requirements analysis, component specifications, business and technical procedures, component and system testing, system implementation, documentation and training. Major responsibility will be supporting project, application development, data modeling, system testing and administration associated with company Fleet management software systems.


25%        Act in a lead professional capacity possessing a high level of specialized knowledge and recognized as an expert/authority in fleet management and information technology systems and applications, such as the current Fleet systems M4 and new M5.  Applies technical expertise to address and evaluate significant fleet business needs/problems and complex issues to ultimately provide recommended information systems and application solutions.  Evaluate application software packages and make recommendations to management.  Participate with other IT members, customers, and other stakeholders in new product reviews, tests, and pilots. 

25%        Manages the fleet management systems and is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of fleet processes including modifying and/or improving the applications to support the company and business unit management needs.  Foster and maintain good relationships with IT, Fleet colleagues and other business units to provide expected customer service levels.

30%        Manages and monitors the data integrity and systems processing of the critical departmental databases for Fleet.  Performs necessary systems analyses via diagnostic tests (SQL) to determine maintenance needs and coordinates /delivers the needed resources for effective system operations and processing. Coordinates and implements system-wide database changes (e.g., global data replacements, selective deletes or conditional record adds) to accommodate departmental needs. Determines and implements archiving of critical data.  Develops specifications and required changes to the database tables, menus, screens, forms, reports and integrated applications to meet the accounting requirements for IT programmers. 

20%        Manages and responds to requests to extract and analyze data, produce reports and develop required automated reporting from the Fleet systems using available tools, such as Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Access and Excel.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in business administration, computer science, information systems, or other technical degree.
  • Requires three years of experience in system administration and hands on experience with Oracle SQL or Microsoft SQL
  • Strong  experience with data manipulation using Excel and/or VBA
  • Requires two years of experience with computer applications and system skills general database structures, application administration, technical application development and customization is highly desirable.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, such as; Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio products.
  • Must have an understanding of structured development methodology.
  • Analytical abilities, ingenuity and excellent oral and written communication skills are required to identify, understand and translate user requirements into system applications.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Crystal Reports
  • Experience in the use of computer systems such as: AssetWorks M4, M5, Fleet anywhere or other Fleet management software
