Description:

One of the nation’s largest concrete contractors, that was established in 1970, is seeking a Human Resources/Payroll Specialist to join their Accounting department at their corporate headquarters in Irvine, CA. This is a direct hire opportunity that is 100% onsite and you must feel comfortable working in an office.

Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll for 60 regular employees accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Provide backup support to ensure union construction payroll (for field employees) is processed.
  • Ensure the government agency rules and reporting deadlines are met and adhered to consistently.
  • Calculate and process timecards and corrections, including calculating overtime, deductions, per diems, subsistence, fringe benefits etc. in accordance with company policies and State, Federal and Union laws.
  • Initiate, process and manage all remittance for hourly and salaried staff, including 401k, benefits, apprenticeship, workers compensation remittances/audits, garnishments and payroll taxes.
  • Filing quarterly payroll and tax reports
  • Human Resources support including: Setting up new hires, assisting with open enrollment, handling enrollment in the John Hancock 401k plan and making weekly payments
  • Communicates with all personnel in a polite professional manner

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of Payroll processing experience within the construction industry required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & Outlook) and Sage 300

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified payroll processing experience preferred
  • Covid-19 vaccination preferred 
  • The ability to maintain confidential information when required by legal and ethical standards of professionalism to ensure privacy of employee records.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills
  • An understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
  • Must be extremely organized, accurate, possess high level of attention to detail and be able to perform successfully under pressure and in a timely manner.
