A dynamic and rapidly growing leader in home-based healthcare services is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their Accounting department immediately. This Staff Accountant opportunity is a blended role to bridge accounting functions including maintaining general ledger accounts, administering and processing Accounts Receivable, administering all aspects of billing/collections, preparing journal entries and posting to the General Ledger with the medical billing department, reconciling accounts and to produce various accurate accounting and financial statements to management.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares consolidated internal and external monthly financial reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and the billing department.
  • Maintains and balances general ledger, journal entries, payroll and medical payment processes.
  • Monitors and follows-up on receivables that have been outstanding for extensive periods of time.
  • Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
  • Prepares payments for Medicare and private insurance providers by requesting disbursements and reconciling accounts.
  • Audits medical billing invoices and accounts.
  • Provides reports to management of audit findings.
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommends changes.
  • Provides accounting support for converting data to general ledger system and obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Assists with annual audit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • At least 2+ years of progressive accounting and finance business experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in healthcare, home health or hospice preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics and accounting principles.
  • Medical billing software experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages.
  • Demonstrates initiative and skills in planning and organizing work.
  • Demonstrates desire to set and meet objectives and to find increasingly efficient ways to perform tasks.
  • Completes work, care and documentation with accuracy and within company time frames.
